Limousin cattle with great qualities

The Paddais limousin herd is the result of over 20 years of dedicated breeding. Our commitment to rigorous standards has resulted in one of the superior herds of limousin cattle in Finland.

Good maternal qualities
During the past two decades we have focused on good maternal qualities. Choosing only the best cows for breeding has proven to be an effective method of assuring quality. During the past years our cattle have received numerous awards and have shown excellent results in domestic reviews.

Paddais cattle have performed extremely well in domestic rankings and competitions performed by Faba, the official breeding organization in Finland. According to the latest ranking (Nautakarja, April 2010), Paddais has the highest growth average of limousin herds in Finland. Faba keeps herdbooks for the cattle breeds in Finland and co-ordinates animal breeding and artificial insemination in Finland.

Herd origins domestic and foreign
Our herd was founded in the late 1980s, when we bought our first set of animals from the Qvidja estate in Parainen. Subsequently, we bought animals from abroad, mainly the UK, France and Denmark, later on animals from other countries as well as sperm from New Zealand.

Herd size
At the moment our herd size is approximately 200 animals, which includes some 80 cows. Each year some 70 animals are sold to beef cattle producers and meat production, the rest are kept for own breeding purposes. Our long-term goal is to increase our herd size to approximately 300 animals.
